ABET Accreditation

The Agricultural and Biosystems Engineering program is accredited by the Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology, Inc. commonly referred to as ABET. ABET, Inc. is a federation of 31 professional societies representing applied science, computing, engineering, and technology. The professional society that all ABE faculty members belong to is ASAE, the American Society of Agricultural Engineers. Some faculty members also participate in other professional societies such as ASCE, American Society of Civil Engineers; ASEE, American Society for Engineering Education; ASHRAE, American Society of Heating, Refrigeration and Air-Conditioning Engineers; and IFT, Institute of Food Technology. Most state licensing boards and certification programs require graduation from an ABET-accredited program as the first step in the registration or certification process for professional practice.
